KENYA MOJA

REMEMBER WHERE WE CAME FROM

Elections to choose representatives and leaders are one way in which people can have their voices heard. A democratic system helps enable different views to be debated within a parliament, rather than opponents using force to bring about the outcome they want.Unfortunately, in the last few years, there has been serious violence both before and after elections. Often riots and clashes happened when the election process was considered to have been unfair by those who had voted for the losing parties. There were often accusations of electoral fraud and rumours which caused reactions in people gathered to hear the results.
In a month, Kenya will hold the first General Election under our new constitution that will usher in new governance structures. We are cognizant of our past, and especially the profound effects of the violent aftermath of the 2007 general election, which have led us to where we are today.
The chaos and violence that characterized the recent political party nominations is highly regrettable. It must not recur in the August 8th General Election. We call on the IEBC to strictly enforce the law to sustain the confidence of Kenyans.
We urge our political leaders to desist from inflammatory utterances that could incite fellow citizens to violence during the campaigns. We will hold them responsible for their actions. While individual responsibility is emphasized, we stress that political parties and party leaders must control the conduct of their supporters.
We call on Kenyans to be vigilant in the defense of their democratic rights. Vote consciously to secure the future of our country. While important, opinion polls should not be taken as conclusive indicators of the election results.  It is only your vote that counts.  Vote!
The youth hold the future of this country. This is the time to make the difference by choosing the right leaders. You must desist from being used as political tools of violence against each other or as agents of hate through social media. We urge you to use this platform to preach peace and influence positive change for Kenya.
Elections are important for our democratic society and the nation is bigger than each of us. There will be Kenya after August 8th 2017.  Let peace reign in every heart, in every homestead and every corner of our country.
KENYA KWANZA!

KIPSIGIS

kipsigis warriors

ORIGIN

The Kipsigis describe their place of origin as To near Lake Baringo. The Kipsigis are a Nilotic (Nilo Hamitic) people. They are the most populous sub-group of the Kalenjin, a subdivision of Nilotes, who originated in the South Sudan region. Another Kalenjin sub-group is the Tatonga people of Tanzania. In the 1700s, the two tribes migrated to the present-day region of Shinyanga in western Tanzania. Later, the Kipsigis returned to Kericho and a smaller group moved south to Angata Barigoi near the Tanzanian border. By the 19th century, the Kipsigis were living in the Rift Valley province of Kenya

ABOUT KIPSIGIS

Artists such as Joel Arap Kimeto, Paul Sang Temugo, Paul Subembe, Kipchamba Arap Tapotuk, Solomon Manori, Francis Koech, Junior Kotestes, and the comedian, Bomori Araap Baikalyaang, are from the Kipsigis community. KNOW YOUR TRIBE.

PROUD TO BE A KALENJIN

This is a platform where all Kalenjin subtribes from all regions in Kenya and even further across Africa get to know about ther tribe, basic knowledge about it,origin and calture as a whole.
This blog was made in order to target that young kalenjin boy and girl out there in the current society and has got detouched from his/her tradition due to the environment they are exposed to and to enable the the know out in the social network where such talk is not addressed frequently and much ignored..

I am an undergraduate student at Egerton university. My inspiration to give important knowledge about my tribe as a kalenjin is my DAD.He knows much about kalenjin, always keeping us on the know and would like to pass that to my own kids when time comes in order to keep our traditions and culture alive.
